Where we stayed: Downtown Salt Lake KOA

How long we stayed: 3 weeks

When we stayed: Pandemic time!

Literally nothing was open in Salt Lake City. We weren't even allowed to visit the Salt Lake, as it was only open to residents of the county. Alas, we'll have to come back. We did find a few great things, though!

First off, that view

HOLY COW. Easily probably the nicest mountain view for an urban area, ever. I know some people think Denver has it going on, but those people have clearly never been to Salt Lake. Either that or we just have different tastes in mountains. SLC is like what I would expect Crestone or Ridgway, Colorado to look like if it grew up into a metro area.

Vertical Diner

This vegan place was delicious. Thanks to COVID, we did not get the full dining experience anywhere, but this place was pretty fantastic. Paige had pancakes, and I had a burrito. As usual, I'm writing this blog way too late after the fact to remember the specifics.

A new toilet!

As featured on IGTV, our new toilet arrived and we installed it ourselves! It was quite the day project, since we used the opportunity to do, essentially, a massive black tank flush, and some other general clean-up. It's also how we learned that our sweet bathroom floor is basically just wood on top of porcelain tile. Whoda thunk it.

Stormy was extra-adorable for this endeavor. Did you know he's really obsessed with holes?

Uplifting rocks

Cute, right?

The largest Costco!

Release your inner bulk buyer. You'd think that living in an RV would be incompatible with the whole ethos of shopping at Costco. However, Costco has some of the most delicious gluten-free pizza we've found. (My co-worker Tim has recommended a brand, too, that we still haven't tried... sorry Tim). This was a fun trip, as we both dawned our leftover N-95 masks from when we were painting the RV.

Paige's favorite part of shopping at Costco, though, is the samples. Of course, pandemic time means no samples.

Final Verdict

Like most of our pandemic towns, we need to come back, but this one especially. (Which will certainly happen, as my employer is located there!) It's a city with truly breathtaking scenery. If you could take Chicago architecture and plop it against a Salt Lake City backdrop, I'm pretty sure I'd quit RV'ing immediately and buy a real house. Or condo.
